Abstract

PURPOSE: The title soft, tack-free, and easily handleable composition having a rapid thickening rate, improved mechanical strength, surface smoothness, and appearance, comprising a specific unsaturated polyester resin and a polyfunctional polyisocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) an unsaturated polyester resin prepared by dissolving a mixture of (a) 40W90wt% of an unsaturated polyester having the ratio of the hydroxyl number to the acid value of <1.5:1, and (b) 60W 10 wt% of an unsaturated polyester having the ratio ≥1.5:1, a hydroxyl number ≥20, and a molecular weight ≥800, in (c) a polymerizable monomer, e.g. styrene, and (B) an isocyanate having at least two isocyanate groups, e.g. 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate. (B) is preferably used in such an amount as to give a molar ratio of hydroxyl to isocyanate groups of 0.7W1.3:1.
