Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the turnoff circuit, by the structure such that a current proportional to the current of the main circuit of CTO is made to flow in the primary winding of a mutual reactor, and GTO is turned off by the current induced in the secondary winding when the above-mentioned current is cut off.
CONSTITUTION: Secondary winding 9s of mutual reactor 9 is connected in series with protection element 5 provided between the gate of GTO1 and the cathode. A current proportional to the current of the main circuit of GTO is made to flow in primary winding 9p of this reactor. When the current flowing in primary winding 9p is cut off, GTO is turned off by the current induced in secondary winding 9s. In this structure, the energy required for turning off GTO is accumulated in the reactor since current Ig1 proportional main circuit current I flows in the primary winding of the mutual reactor. Hence, this energy becomes appropriate for turning off the main circuit current.
