Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily treat a tellurium-containing material, by refining zinc melt containing tellurium obtained by cooling the mexture of tellurium and zinc vapors with chlorides to concentrate tellurium in the dross.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of tellurium-containing matter, such as metallic ore or lead electrolysis slime or the like and zinc-containing matter, such as metallic zinc, zinc ore, or the like are heated under a reducing atmosphere to produce a vapor mixture of zinc and tellurium, this mixture is introduced in a condenser under a reducing atmosphere for condensing, and thus zinc melt absorbing tellurium is obtained. Then, chlorides, such as ammonium chloride or zinc chloride is added by a few ppm or a few %, the zinc melt is treated at a temperature above the zinc melting point and below 500°C for a few to a few tens minutes for refining, and the zinc melt is removed, resulting in concentrating tellurium in dross.
