Abstract

PURPOSE: A propylene-ethylene random copolymer of specific properties is incorporated to a crystalline polypropylene to produce formed resin articles with a good balance between stiffness and impact strength, and high gloss.
CONSTITUTION: Using a catalyst consisting of the solid titanium chloride component, the organoaluminum component, or further, an electron donor, is prepared polypropylene polymer A that contains more than 90 mole% of propylene unit and more than 90% of fraction insoluble in boiling n-heptane. Separately, in the absence of polypropylene, is prepared a propylene-ethylene random copolymer B that contains 30W85 mole% of propylene unit, has more than 0.8 of microisotacticity obtained by measuring the three propylene consequtive chains in 13C NMR spectrum and contains less than 10% of fraction insoluble in boiling cyclohexane. A composition resulting from blending A and 1W30 wt% of B, based on A, when necessary, 0W30% of polyethylene gives resin moldings with high stiffness, impact strength, heat resistance and good appearance.
