Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of discharging performance by avoiding the formation of spaces due to the bending of separator layer by notching all circumference or a part of the circumferential end portion in contact with a porous metal separator layer used in forming cathode. CONSTITUTION:The porous metal body 1 with a spongy skeleton, whose space is housed with a cathodic active substance or whose skeleton surface is formed a cathodic active substance film as the cathodic material 2, is shaped into such a form that all or partial circumferential portion of its end in contact with separator layer. And, the inside circumferential end of the separator contacting side of the gasket 4 is fitted into the notched circumference of the porous metal body 1. Thus, the fromation of spaces in the separator layer due to bending can be prevented and hence the lowering of its performance can be avoided.
