Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A tricyclic condensed pyrimidine derivative shown by the formula I (R1WR3 are H, halogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy; R4 is H, OH, or lower alkoxy; one or two of R5WR7 are lower alkyl and the rest is H; R8 is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, or lower cycloalkylalkyl; n is 0 or 1) and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: 8-Chloro-10-cyclopropylmethyl-5-hydroxy-2-methyl-5-phenyl-2, 3, 5, 10- tetrahydroimidazo[2,1-b]quinazoline.
USE: A drug, e.g., diuretics or vasodilators.
PREPARATION: A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula III [W is Li or MgX(X is halogen) in an inert solvent, treated with water, to form an intermediate, which is reduced or reacted with a lower alkanol, if necessary, to give the desired compound shown by the formula I.
