Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an extrusion-molded tube with grooves or projections in or on the inner surface thereof by using an inner die which is projected outwardly from an annular mouthpiece of an extruder beyond an end surface of an outer die, and which is provided with projections or grooves on or in the outer circumferential surface of that portion of thereof which is between the outer end of the inner die and that portion of the outer die which is inner than the end surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:An inner die 2 extended from an annular mouthpiece of an extruder has a projected portion 21 extended outwardly beyond an end surface of an outer die 1. Four projections 3 are provided on the outer circumferential surface of that portion of the inner die which is between the outer end the projected portion 21 and that portion of the outer die which is inner than the end surface thereof. A thermoplastic resin 6 continuously extruded is shaped into a tube having four grooves in the inner surface thereof. This tube is cooled and hardened by a cooling pipe through which a cooling medium flows. The length of the projected portion 21 depends upon the dimensions of the dies; it is usually not less than 5cm and, preferably, not less than 15cm and not more than 30cm. The tube thus obtained is used as a cap seal or the like.
