Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to operate EGR and ISC by means of a single valve, by the method wherein, at the time of switching from EGR to ISC (idling speed control), a certain delay time is set which is determined by a timer circuit.
CONSTITUTION: EGR pipe 4 is connected to exhaust pipe 3 of engine proper 2, and exhaust gas is returned to suction pipe 1 via EGR control valve 5. The upper stream part of throttle valve 6 of suction pipe 1 and its lower stream part are connected by side path 7 fitted with ISC valve. In this case, the negative pressure chambers of control valves 5, 8 are connected via switching valve 18, and the negative pressure from constant pressure valve 16, which has been adjusted by electromagnetic valve 17, is drawn to either control valve 5 or 8 . Electromagnetic valve 17 and switching valve 18 are controlled by control valve 14. Control valve 14 is provided with timer circuit 15, and it is so designed that, after a fixed delay time following the total closing of throttle valve 6, switching valve 18 is switched from the side of valve 5 to the side of valve 6, and valve 5 is totally closed during this time.
