Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the self-priming operating time when restarting a pump by dividing the water storage casing into three chambers, namely, a main water storage chamber, gas and liquid separating chamber and self-priming water supplying chamber so as to decrease the amount of descending water while utilizing siphonage at the time of the interruption of operation.
CONSTITUTION: Since the water is forced to stop descending on to the supply source by injected air at a sucking entrance 3 which is corresponding to the top of a siphon when operation is interrupted, the self-primed water is stored in a casing 7 which is divided into the main water storage chamber 7a, gas and liquid separating chamber 7b and self-priming water sypplying chamber 7c. At this time, a partition 8a is left between the main storage chamber 7a and the self-priming water supplying chamber 7c. Since both the chambers are communicated with each other only by a small hole 6a, the water in the main storage chamber 7a does not accompany the descending water in self-priming water supplying chamber 7c because of siphonage. For this reason, it is possible to decrease the descending water volume owing to siphonage at the time of the interruption of operation, and the time required for self-priming operation.
