Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a joint with a good workability capable of transmitting a big amount of rotating torque, by jointing the drive shaft and universal joint with a blind fastener, and reinforcing a place of distance more than 1.8 times the radius of the fastener.
CONSTITUTION: To a drive shaft 1, consisting of fiber reinforced composite material, is engaged a sleeve tube 2, uniformly constructed by a metal made universal joint, and into the hole of the both materials 1, 2 is inserted a blind fastener. In a condition of a countersinking portion 5 of this fastener 3 as left being press attached to the shaft 1, with a screw portion 6 lifted by rotation, a sleeve 7 is pressed and expanded by a tapered portion 8, being press attached to the inside wall of the sleeve tube 2. In the area of distance more than 1.8 times the radius of the fastener 3 from the center of joint point of the drive shaft 1, a reinforcement of the construction, having a strength more than 1.5 times the rotating stress of the drive shaft 1, can endure a concentrated stress on the basis of the fastener 3.
