Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:β,β,β', β'-Tetrafluorodivinylbenzene expressed by the formula.
USE: A raw material for polymers, a crosslinking agent and a raw material for oxygen-containing polymer (oxygen absorber). Since the produced polymer has strong C-F bonds in the main chain, it is chemically stable compared with the known C-H type polymer.
PROCESS: Phthaldialdehyde, a difluoromethane derivative CF2X2 (X is Cl, Br or I), a reducing metal (e.g. Zn, Zn-Cu couple, etc.), an alkali(ne earth) metal iodide and a tertiary phosphine R3P (R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, etc.) are reacted at -30W 250°C to produce the compound expressed by the formula.
