Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure extremely strong radioactive rays by arranging a plurality of anode wires in the radiation incident direction and connecting the wires to respective pulse number measuring circuits.
CONSTITUTION: A radiation incident window 2 is formed at the part of a polygonal metallic container 1 used as a cathode, and a plurality of anode wires 5 are stretched through insulators 3 and 4 provided at the side wall facing oppositely to the container 1 substantially perpendicularly to the incident path and in the incident direction. Ionization gas inlet 6 and outlet 7 are provided in the vicinity of both the ends of the container 1, and the gas is flown into the container 1. The anode wires 5 of a proportional counting tube are applied through respective amplifiers 8 and discriminators 9 to respective scalers 10, and the outputs from the scalers 10 are applied to an adder 11 to thereby add the sum of the counted values. Thus, extremely strong radioactive rays can be measured.
