Abstract

PURPOSE:To drive a step motor for a watch with low power consumption at normal time by generating a quick feed drive pulse when detecting inoperative state of the motor and correcting it. CONSTITUTION:When a step motor does not rotate as predetermined due to increase of load or the like, a detector 23 detects the inoperative state of the step motor from the change of current in a motor drive circuit 14 to generate a detection signal S6. When a corrector circuit 24 receives the signal S6, it generates two quick feed pulses increased in its pulse duration, which pulses are supplied through the circuit 14 to a field winding 4. The signal S6 is also applied to a timer 8 to thereby increase the drive pulse duration in predetermined time. Thus, the time delay due to the motor inoperative state can be exactly corrected. Accordingly, since it normally uses the drive pulse having narrow duration, it can reduce the power consumption of the motor.
