Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to display Chinese characters easily by attaining access to a Chinese-character video generating circuit by storing Chinese-character assignment bits and Chinese-character sub-address bits in a refresh memory in parallel to a data memory.
CONSTITUTION: To display information by using raster scanning type CRT70, display contents for one screen are stored in refresh memory 20 via interface 10. Display character codes and raster addresses stored in this memory 20 are applied to character picture generating circuit 30 and video signal control circuit 60 under the control of timing circuit 40. then, a character pattern signal outputted from circuit 30 is converted by parallel-serial converter circuit 50 into a serial signal under the control of circuit 40 and the signal is applied to control circuit 60. This control circuit 60 mixes color information and blinking information into the video serial signal and the mixture signal is sent to CRT70, thereby displaying characters on CRT 70 under the control of control circuit 40.
