Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify circuit constitution by repeatedly selecting a maximum or minimum value among digital values to be compared at a high speed and then by outputting digital values in the order of value or reversely.
CONSTITUTION: Data selectors 4 and 5 are provided which select several digital values X1WX3 inputted to input lines 1W3, and outputs 6 and 7 selected by those selectors 4 and 5 are inputted to digital comparator 8 to make a comparison between the both; when output 6 of selector 4 is greater, level "H" is outputted and when output 6 is less, level "L" is outputted. This comparison result is applied to AND circuit 10 and shift register 11 and when the comparison result of circuit 10 is level "H", the output of circuit 10 is applied to register 11 by clocks of clock generator 12. Then, the number of times of level "L" of the comparsion results is held by register 11 and the number of times held every time the output of circuit 10 is applied is increased by one to control selector 4, thereby sequentially selecting the greatest value.
