CONSTITUTION: Magnetic head 6 attached to magnetic head device substrate 2 via attachment component 3 is attached to shaft 4 and then switched between the recording and reproducing positions by means of pinion 13 and sector gear 14. Flange part 11 unified with substrate 5 is held at the recording and reproducing positions with a touch secured to the tips of screws 8a and 8b and also at the position of 180° by the function of spring 24. Both the 1st and 2nd cores are composed of L- channel cores 33L and 34L plus R-channel cores 33R and 34R respectively, and the gap width of the 1st core is set a little larger than that of the 2nd core. Head 6 can be controlled via screws 8a and 8b so that the gap length directions of cores 33 and 34 may be vertical to tracks 37R, 37L, 37'R and 37'L of magnetic tape T.
