Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to keep silencing effect if outer diameter is reduced, by providing an exhaust-gas passage by cutting off an outer peripheral portion of a partition.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust-gas silencing apparatus 20 comprises a partition 16 for dividing a first expansion chamber 10 and a second expansion chamber 14 from each other. This partition 16 is cut off at its peripheral portion in a sector form and a guide plate 22 is fixed in the sector-shaped cut. Since communicating portion 26 is thus shaped in a flat form, exhaust gas from engine introduced into the first expansion chamber 10 through diffuser pipe 12 comes into abutment against partition 16, and then by-passing guide plate 22, introduced into the second expansion chamber 14 through communicating portion 26. Therefore, if outer diameter of outer sleeve 24 is made small, diffuser pipe 12 and portion 26 do not cause axial interference in the axial direction of sleeve 24, so that required silencing effect can be obtained by making the passage of exhaust gas sufficiently long.
