Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a positive plate with high rate discharge performance by using the nickel-cobalt compound which is obtained by anode-oxidizing nickel in an acid bath containing cobalt salt, as a positive electrode active material.
CONSTITUTION: A nickel plate is anode-oxidized in an acid bath containing cobalt salt, for example, in the 0.2M/l cobalt nitrate solution of which is adjusted to pH=1. And a nickel-cobalt compound is obtained by collecting, washing in hot water, and drying produced laminated materials. This compound is composed of the oxide which contains the 20wt% cobalt and 10wt% nickel. For instance, a positive plate is obtained by press-molding this compound and re-press-molding and enclosing it in a nickel net.
