Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a semi-permeable membrane for reverse osmosis with excellent substance exhausitive property and water pemeable speed by a method wherein a wet porous membrane of acrylonitrile polymer is treated by hot water and thereafter treated by plasma.
CONSTITUTION: To a polar organic solvent solution containing about 5W30wt% of acrylonitrile polymer of which acrylonitrile content is 40W100mol%, about 5W 20wt% of an additive such as polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol or the like is added and casted on a glass plate so as to form a film with a thickness of about 100μ, thereafter surface solvent is evaporated at a temperature of below b.p. of a solvent and gellated by immersing in a non-solvent to obtain a porous wet membrane. Subsequently, this porous wet membrane is immersed in an aqueous solution based on water with 50W100°C for above about 1min to carry out heat treatment and thereafter dried. This obtained dried membrane is set in a vacuum container mounted with a pair of electrode therein, thereafter a gas not polymerized by plasma is introduced so as to adjust pressure within the said chamber to about 0.01W10 torr and about 0.5W50kV of voltage is applied for 30sec -1hr to carry out plasma treatment.
