Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the adhesion of scale to dialyzer and membrane by keeping the concentration of salt constant by introducing a part of desalted water formed in an electric dialyzer consisting of fours cells, desalting chamber, divalent anion- cation concentration chambers, and monovalent ion concetration chamber, into the monovalent ion concentration chamber. CONSTITUTION:The original water 5 is directed to the desalting chamber (beta) built up of the usual type anion-cation exchange membranes 3 and 4 for desalination, and ca<2+> and Na<+> move to the divalent cation concentration chamber (alpha2) and SO4<2-> and Cl<-> move to the divalent anion concentration chamber (alpha1). The cation in the concentration chamber (alpha2) moves toward the cathode 2, but monovalent cation alone, such as Na<+>, etc., moves to the monovalent ion concentration chamber (gamma) through the monovalent ion selectively permeable membrane 12 and divalent cation, such as Ca<2+>, etc., stays in the concentration chamber (alpha2). Similarly, the anion in the concentration chamber (alpha1) moves toward the anode 1, but monovalent ion, such as Cl<->, etc., moves to the concentration chamber (gamma) through the monovalent ion selectively permeable membrane 11 and divalent anion, such as SO4<2->, etc., stays in the concentration chamber (alpha1).
