Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the discoloration of a basic aromatic compound having discolorating tendency with time, effectively by storing the compound in the presence of a specific oxygen-absorbing material without directly contacting each other.
CONSTITUTION: A basic aromatic compound having discoloring tendency with time (e.g. p-aminophenol or indole) is color-protected by storing in the presence of an oxygen-absorbing material (e.g. active iron oxide, active iron, etc. available as deoxidizing agents) under air-free conditions without directly contacting each other. The above oxygen-absorbing material has high oxygen-absorbability, and can be used separately from the product to be stored without lowering the purity of the product.
