Abstract
PURPOSE: The purification of anionic polysaccharide is carried out by reaction of it when a cationic high polymer to form a water-insoluble complex and decomposing the complex by treating with a solution containing a lower alcohol and an inorganic salt, thereby it prevents troubles caused by toxicity and the purification costs becomes inexpensive.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An anionic polysaccharide as xanthane gum, alginic acid, carrageenan or gum arabic is made to react with a cationic high polymer as a nitrogen-containing and water-soluble high polymer produced by a microorganism to form a water-insoluble complex. The complex is treated with a solution containing (C) a lower alcohol as methanol and (D) an inorganic salt as potassium chloride to regenerate the component A. The insoluble component formed is removed by centrifugation and thereby the component A is given in high purity.
USE: The product can be added to food.
