Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the adherence and thermal impact resistance of a coating layer, formed on the surface of a Ni- or Co-base heat resistant alloy by coating ceramics, by mixing metal or alloy powder metallic-binding to the alloy into the ceramics. CONSTITUTION:In coating the surface of a Ni- or Co-base heat resistant alloy with ceramics, 20-70% of metal or alloy powder such as Cr, Al, Ni or Co powder or Ni-Cr or Ni-Al alloy powder metallic-binding to the alloy is mixed into the ceramics. This mixt. is then sprayed upon the alloy surface. The ceramics powder and the metal powder may be coated onto the alloy surface with a suitable binder such as a soln. of nitrocellulose in butyl acetate followed by high temp. baking. This method is applied to parts such as a gas turbine and a jet engine which are exposed to hot corrosive gas.
