Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the copies of good image quality free from uneven development and ground stains by forming the developing material donating member built therein with a magnet by the non-magnetic elastic layer and magnetic conductive layer subsequently coated on non-magnetic substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A developing roller 1 as a developer donating member consists of a non-magnetic sleeve 3 in which a static bar magnet 2 is contained and a magnetic conductive layer 5 coated thereon. The bar magnet 2 is circular in section and its peripheral surface is provided with three magnetic poles alternately disposed with N and S poles. One of the N poles thereof is so disposed as to oppose to the portion where the developing roller 1 and photosensitive drum 6 contact. One- component type high resistance magnetic toner 8 is contained in a non-magnetic hopper 7 and the thickness of the toner 8 is defined by the doctor 10 which also serves as a friction charging member. Since the magnet which receives the toner 8 is larger than conventional ones, the toner 8 is held relatively strongly on the developing roller 1, thus the adsorption of the toner 8 on the non-image portions of the electrostatic latent images is obviated and the occurrence of ground stains obviated.
