Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high resolution covering the entire variation range by connecting attenuators to output sides of all of D/A converters except one and then by adding the output of one D/A converter to the output of each attenuator.
CONSTITUTION: Digital input 1 is distributed by digital resolving unit 2 to coarse- adjustment D/A converter 3a and fine-adjustment D/A converter 3b corresponding to the number of bits of the input and then converted into analog values respectively. The output of converter 3b is attenuated by analog attenuator 4 according to the distribution ratio and then added to the output of converter 3a by adder 5 to obtain analog output 6. Further, the attenuation rate of attenuator 4 is made greater than the resolution of converter 3a to give hysteresis characteristics to digital inputs to converters 3a and 3b by distributor 2. As a result, even if output 6 would be discontinuous due to the error of converter 3a, converter 3b has upper and lower margins of variation width, so that a fixed value can be obtained.
