Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to read easily the contents of a linear or curved original by providing a guide unit with a method which is moved linearly or curvedly and by making it possible to switch it by a lever.
CONSTITUTION: Manual scanner 1, having case 2 in a rectangular parallelopiped shape, is provided with read window 2aa on read surface 2a opposing to an original surface and near both its sides, guide roller holes 2b and 2b' are perforated. From those holes 2b and 2b', guide rollers 3 and 3' are projecting upward and one roller 3' is fixed to a shaft pivoted by case 2. The other roller 3 is fixed being made rotatable and slidable in the axial direction. On the internal wall of case 2, rod- shaped roller change-over lever 7 is pivoted on pin 9. When scanner 1 takes a scan linearly, rollers 3 and 3' are integrally rotated and when a curved scan, rollers 3 and 3' are turned freely each other.
