Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the intrusion of water inside the cover by providing a check valve on the drain unit of the sealing member.
CONSTITUTION: The cover of engine 1 consists of cowling 4, cowling-bottom 5 and apron 8. Apron 8 is fitted elastically with sealing member 11, which is fitted to flange 10 of exhaust guide 2. A part of the outer surface of sealing member 11 is cut, forming drain unit 12. Here, stop valve 13 is provided. Stop valve 13 consists of valve plate 15 and side plate 14, and it is fitted to the fitting part of sealing member 11 by means of stopper 17. Since the drain unit is provided with the stop valve, sea water that has flowed inside the cover can be discharged, and at the same time, even if sea water has flowed inside the apron from gap 9 below the apron, no water enters the space inside the cover.
