Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare non-flammable, harmless nail lacquer, by replacing the solvent of conventional cellulosic nail lacquer with methylene chloride, and adding a phosphoric acid ester as a plasticizer.
CONSTITUTION: At least a part of the solvent of a conventional cellulosic nail lacquer is replaced by methylene chloride. The amount of the methylene chloride in the whole composition is 20W80wt%, pref. 40W60wt%. The composition also contains 1W4wt% of a phosphoric acid ester as a plasticizer. Since methylene chloride has the highest volatility among all constituents in the composition, the atmosphere near the nail is kept non-flammable during the treatment. The nail lacquer composition itself is also non-flammable by the additive effect of the non-flammable methylene chloride solvent and the flame-retardant phosphate plasticizer.
