Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An isoxazolin-3-one derivative of formula I (R1 is H, lower alkyl, or halogen; R2 is H, lower alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group; or R1 and R2 together may form a hydrocarbon ring with adjacent carbon atom; Y is H, or II; R3,4,6,7 are H, lower alkyl or aryl; R5 is H or lower alkyl; X is H, OH, or halogen).
EXAMPLE: 4-Chloro-2-(2,3-dihydroxy-n-propyl)-5-phenyl-4-isoxazolin-3-one.
USE: Anti-phlogistics, analgesics, and antipyretics.
PROCESS: The objective compound I wherein Y is Ya is prepared by reacting a compound III with a compound IV [Ya is H or group V (Xa is H or OH); Z is halogen] in an inert solvent, in the presence or absence of a base.
