Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of the protective medium like as hydrocarbon, etc., for the tuyere, and to diminish the damage of the refractory material of the tuyere and its surroundings, by forming the refractory layer on the inner surface of the outer tube of the double tube tuyere of the bottom blasting converter, and by making the internal tube of the metal of large thermal conductivity. CONSTITUTION:The tuyere 1 of the bottom blasting converter is constructed to a double tube type, whose inner tube is made of the tough pitch copper. The outer tube 3 is made of the mild steel, and the porous ceramic made refractory tube 4 mainly composed of 60%Al2O3 and 30%SiO2 is closely inserted into the inner surface of the outer tube 3. The smelting oxygen from the inner hole 5 of the inner tube 2, and the hydrocarbonaceous gas as the protective medium from the ring type gap 6 between the inner tubr 2 and the outer tube 3, are injeted. The protective medium gas, under existence of the refractory tube 4, is kept under the decomposition temperature while passing through the tuyere, and is suddenly heated to decompose at the tip of tuyere; and the tuyere inself cools the refractory material around the outer tube 3; as a result, a small amount of gas protects the tuyere and the refractory material from the thermal damage.
