Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a wire material for aerial power transmission, which shows no decrease in electroconductivity and has excellent heat resistance, by heating at a specific temp. an Al alloy material contg. limited amount of Zr, Fe, and Si, by quenching, cold working at a reduction of area, then by further heating it.
CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy material comprising, by weight, 0.15W0.50%Zr, 0.05W0.50%Fe, 0.04W0.20%Si, the balance being Al and usual impurities is heated to a temp. 500W645°C and quenched to form solid soln. of Zr and Fe contained in the material. Then the alloy is cold-treated at a reduction of area not less than 65%, then heat-treated at a temp. 250W450°C for 1W400hrs. so as to be subjected to precipitation hardening through aging, hereby electroconductivity is improved. Or the alloy material is heated, quenched, further heat-treated at 250W 450°C for 1W100hrs. at a reduction of area, and if necessary, heat-treated so as to improve further heat resistance and electroconductivity. This method makes it possible to manufacture a conductor excellent in strength, in electroconductivity, and in heat resistance.
