Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester with improved static charge applying castability, excellent softening point, transparency and heat resistance by a method wherein bis- (beta-hydroxylethyl)terephtalate, terephtalic acid and ethyleneglycol are reacted and thereafter a specific compound is added to carry out a polycondensation reaction.
CONSTITUTION: To a predetermined amount of bis(beta-hydroxylethyl)terephtalate and/or a low molecular polymer thereof, terephtalic acid and ethyleneglycol are supplied and an esterification reaction is carried out. Subsequently, (A) an ethyleneglycol soluble metal compound selected from a compound of magnesium and manganese, (B) an alkali metal compound selected hydroxide, bicarbonate or aliphatic carboxylate of alkali metal and (C) a phosphorus compound selected from phosphorus acid, phosphoric acid are added to satisfy a formulas I, II, III and a polycondensation reaction is carried out.
