Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain sound weld easily even when the difference in wall thickness between beveled walls is large by repeating the procedure in which arc current and arc voltage are made great at one end in weaving and made small at the other point. CONSTITUTION:Electrode is made into a both end stopping type by weaving and welding is advanced by repeating the procedure in which arc voltage and arc current are made great at one end of the weaving and made small at the other end. For example, the steel plate A, 60mm in thickness D1, and the steel plate B, 30mm in thickness D2, are welded at a cross angle theta1, of 60 deg., a beveling angle theta2 of 30 deg., and a root interval of 5mm. In this case, the arc voltage VH, arc current IH, and timing tH when electrode exists on the steel plate A side are set to 28V, 270A, and 0.5 sec., respectively, and also the values VL, IL, and tL when the electrode exists on the other sides are set to 18V, 130A, and 1.0 sec, respectively. Then, the first layer is welded by weaving it into a both end stopping type, and then the secondary and third layers are welded likewise by rising only VH and IH to 31V and 290A.
