Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate shortage of boost pressure in low-speed operational range of engine and to thereby raise its low-speed torque, by connecting a bypass passage respectively to the intake passage and exhaust passage, providing a changeover valve for closing either of the intake passage or its bypass passage selectively and a valve for closing either of the exhaust passage or its bypass passage selectively, and thus effecting supercharging in low-speed operational range of engine.
CONSTITUTION: Engine 1 has an intake compressor 3 in intake passage 2 and an exhaust turbine 5 in exhaust passage 4. Here, bypass passages 6, 7 are connected respectively to the intake passage 2 and exhaust passage 4, and auxiliary intake compressor 8 and an auxiliary exhaust turbine 9 are provided respectively in the bypass passages 6 and 7. Further, there are provided a changeover valve 10 for opening and closing either of intake passage 2 or bypass passage 6 selectively and a changeover valve 11 for opening and closing either of exhaust passage 4 and its bypass passage 7 selectively. There is further provided a sensor 12 for detecting revolutional speed of engine, so as to operate said changeover valves 10, 11 by means of computor 13 and actuator 14.
