Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent irregularity and stoppage of engine rotation during partial- cylinder operation of engine, by shifting engine operation from partial-cylinder operation to total-cylinder operation in case that output of a malfunction detecting sensor exceeds a pre-determined range.
CONSTITUTION: Cylinder-number controlling circuit 2, amplifier 4 and AND-circuits 6, 7 are connected to a fuel injection controlling circuit 1 which produces fuel injection pulse signals for controlling operation of fuel injection valves a1Wa6 for respective cylinders #1W#6 on the basis of signals from a sensor for detecting the air flow rate of suction air and others. The cylinder-number controlling circuit 2 is designed such that injection valves a4Wa6 are rendered inoperative during low- load operation of engine on the basis of the pulse width of fuel injection pulse signals, and its output terminal is connected to other input terminals of AND-circuit 6, 7. Here, output terminal of malfunction detecting circuit 3 for detecting malfunction of cylinders #1W#3 during partial-cylinder operation of engine is connected to AND-circuit 7, so that operation of injection valves a4Wa6 is recommenced when circuit 3 has produced an output "1".
