Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a windmill from damage accident during the strong wind by a mechanism wherein a part of the blade of a savonius windmill allows to have a movable part to ratate in resisting the drawback spring force to the windmill revolving direction when the speed of windmill exceeds a pre-set speed.
CONSTITUTION: The blades 1, 2 of a savonius windmill are forming in an approximate semicircular cross section to secure with the top and the bottom supporting plates 3a, 3b, which is rotating around the rotary axis 4 by the wind force. In this case, the blades 1, 2 are configured to separate respectively into the movable sections 5, 6 having an outer edge A and the fixing sections 7, 8 having an inner edge B at the point E of a proper circular arc length from the outer A thereof. The movable section 5 is mounted with the fixing section 7 by hinges 9a, 9b located at the bottom and the bottom thereof to allow to rotate to a windmill rotation direction. Hence, a drawback spring 10 having a certain spring force is interposed between the movable section 5 and the fixing section 7 so as to rotate the movable section 5 in resisting to the spring 10 when the wind speed is exceeding a pre-set speed to reduce the air force applied to the windmill.
