Abstract

PURPOSE: To make sealing and bonding perfect and improve durability by making the outside circumference of the spacer encircling a liquid crystal layer smaller than either of upper and lower substrates, sealing the circumference of the spacer with epoxy resin or the like, providing a through-hole to either of the substrates, injecting liquid crystal then sealing the cell.
CONSTITUTION: The outside circumference of a spacer 30 is made smaller than either of both substrates 1, 2. Sealing agent 40 is applied not only on the outside side faces of the substrates 1, 2 but also so as to be sandwiched by the inside surfaces of the outside circumference. A through-hole 6 is provided one side substrate and liquid crystal 5 is injected therethrough, after which the hole 6 is sealed. Epoxy resin or the like of good moisture resistance is used for the sealing agent. By making the sealing and bonding perfect in this way, durability is improved and the increase in current consumption even after the long-time use is prevented.
