Abstract
PURPOSE:To change the coupling relation of the modulated light from an acousto- optic element and optical fiber array and perform photo branching stably with good accuracy by making the frequencies of the carriers of the information applied to the acousto-optic element variable. CONSTITUTION:The respective oscillation frequencies f1-f3 of oscillators OSC1- OSC3 may be arbitrarily selected respectively by frequency selectors FS1-FS3. When the oscillator OSC1 is oscillated by the frequency f1, the transmission signal S1 is light modulated by the acousto-optic element AO and the modulated beam I1 thereof is introduced into an optical fiber OF1. If the oscillation frequencies of the three oscillators are changed, the transmission signals S1-S3 may be led into arbitrary optical fibers. In this way, the signals of multichannels may be simultaneously sent to the transmission system for optical communication simultaneously through optical fibers. Since photo branching is accomplished by making use of the acousto- optic element, the accuracy becomes high, the life becomes longer and the device may be made simpler.
