Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve displayed image quality by connumicating the scanning cells in the cell perforated on an intermediate insulating plate through the groove on the display screen and through the groove on the non-display screen which intersects vertically with the former and arranging cathodes on the display screen.
CONSTITUTION: The discharge holes 31 and 32 are perforated on the intermediate insulating plate 30 which is arranged among a number of anodes 60 in the direction where a number of holed cathodes 50 arranged on the display screen and the cathode arranged on non-display screen intersect. The scanning cells 32 are arranged on one side of a group of display cells 31. Each cathode 50 extends in parallel with the mounting direction of the scanning cells 32. Each scanning cell 32 communicates one another through the connecting groove 33 on the display screen. A single scanning cell 32 and the display cell row 31 communicate each other throuh the connecting groove 34 on non-display screen in the direction where it intersects with this groove 33. On the other hand, the scanning cells 32 always communicate with the lighting cell 32A through the channel 35.
