Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a convenient title neutralizing agent capable of carrying out the continuous neutralizing treatment of acid and alkali by a method wherein an extending agent of a powder and particle form and a binder are compounded to a main agent containing metal salts or solid acids of a powder and particle form which is difficultly dissolved or undissolved in water, thereafter kneaded and dried.

CONSTITUTION: To a main neutralizing agent which contains metal salts such as metal oxide, metal bydroxide, metal silicate or the like or solid acids alone or composites thereof and are difficultly dissolved or undissolved in water, a particulate and powdery extending agent such as sands, diatomaceous earth, saw dusts, plastic powders or the like and a binder such as plastic type sizing agents, rubbery sizing agents, cellulose type sizing agents, gypsum or the like are compounded in an appropriate amount respectively and kneaded with water to obtain a slurry like mixture 8. This slurry like mixture 8 is introduced in a molding frame and dried to obtain a porous solid neutralizing agent 1. This neutralizing agent 1 is introduced in a water permeable container 6 and arranged in a neutralizing tank 5 provided in a flow passage of an exhaust water 7. Thereby, the exhaust water can be continuously and simply neutralized.
