Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce the composite roll of superior abrasion resistance and toughness and high quality by plastically deforming the composite material which is obtainable by casting the outside layer of the specific composition then casting the inside layer composed of the spheroidal graphite cast iron material of another composition to roll form through hot working. CONSTITUTION:The outside layer composed of the component composition of C; 3.0-4.8%, Si; 0.2-2.5%, Cr; 0.5-5.0%, Mn; 0.2-2.0%, Ni; <=5.0%, Mo; 0.2-2.5%, P; <=0.04%, S; <=0.03% and the rest Fe of (2Mn+Ni+2Mo) <=8% is cast, after which the inside layer composed of the spheroidal graphite cast iron material in the component range of C; 1.2-3.8%, Si; <=2.5%, Mn; <=1.0%, Cr; <=0.5% and the rest Fe and added with Ca; 0.10-0.60% is cast. The resultant composite material is plastically deformed to roll form through hot working such as forging, thence it is subjected to suitable heat treatment followed by machining and finishing.
