Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a fluorescent display tube emitting orange light by low-energy electron beam excitation, and having a light-emitting layer composed of a stannic oxide fluorescent material activated with Eu and doped with a specific metal.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent material is prepared by adding 10-8W2×10-1g (reduced to Eu2O3) of Eu and one or more elements selected from 10-8W2×10-1g (reduced to P2O5, As2O3, Sb2O3, and Bi2O3) of P, As, Sb and Bi and 5×10-5W 2×10-1g (reduced to SnS) of Sn, to 1g of SnO2. A glass plate 2 is coated with the fluorescent material thus obtained to form a group of anodes 3aW3n, and a cathode filament 4 is disposed opposite to the anodes. A group of control mesh grids 5aW5n are placed between the anodes and the cathode. The glass plate 2 is bonded to a transparent front glass 1 to form a vessel, which is evacuated, tipped off, and gettered to attain a high vacuum.
