Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize poor or leaking subsoil, by impregnating the ground with a mixture containing water-glass, a boric acid, and water-soluble polyols, thereby effectively impregnating even fine grained soil.
CONSTITUTION: Poor or leaking subsoil is stabilized by impregnating a mixture containing (A) water-glass, (B) a boric acid, and (C) a water-soluble polyol having a molecular weight of ≤1000. The water-glass is e.g. "water-glass No. 1, 2, 3 or 4" specified by JIS K-1408, their mixture with potassium silicate, a sodium silicate wherein the molar ratio of SiO2/Na2O is less than 2.5, or a high-silicate water-glass wherein the molar ratio of SiO2/Na2O is about 3.3W4.5, and the concentration of the watr-glass is usually 10W80wt% (as effective sodium silicate). The boric acid is meta- or ortho- boric acid or their anhydride, and its amount is ≥0.5wt%, pref. 1W5wt%, based on the stabilizing mixture. The (C) component is e.g. ethylene glycol, glycerol, etc., and its amount is 0.2W10, pref. 1W4 times weight of the boric acid.
