Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a diaphragm which is superior in durability and uniform in strength without directional tendency of failure, by covering at least one side of thin base cloth, which is uniform in strength in all directions normal to its surface, with thin rubber film.
CONSTITUTION: One or both sides of base cloth 1, made of cotton plain woven or tricot fabric, is or are thinly coated with rubber 2 and vulcanized to form a diaphragm. The base cloth 1 may be a soft sheet like non-woven fabric, numberless fine fibers getting interwined along a plane so that it is uniform in all directions normal to the plane, or may be a sheet made of chemical material such as nylon. This diaphragm deforms uniformly at the time of action, which can eliminate coming off of the rubber layer or failure of the base cloth caused by local wrinkles and can improve the life expectancy of the product.
