Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the surface clouding and icing of the back mirrors, etc. of automobiles by providing a transparent conductive thin film, transparent insulation thin film and reflecting film in this order to the back surface of glass or the like to required thicknesses and supplying current to the transparent conductive thin film thereby letting the same evolve heat.
CONSTITUTION: A transparent conductive film such as of indium oxide as the 1st layer, a transparent insulation film such as of magnesium fluoride as the 2nd layer and aluminum or the like as the 3rd layer are vacuum-evaporated to required thicknesses on the back surface of glass or plastics as a substrate, whereby three layers of the back reflecting mirror is constituted. With the back reflecting mirror of such constitution, its clouding on account of heating of the cold mirror by the ambient atmosphere or the like may be prevented by flowing current to the conductive film of the 1st layer and beforehand heating the same for about 15W30 minutes. Depending upon conditions, it is also possible to remove the surface clouding and surface icing by heating from behind.
