Abstract
PURPOSE: To realize positive-positive printing and negative-positive printing in one machine simultaneously, by uniformly charging the surface of insulating layer of photoreceptor, applying first image forming radiation, then applying second image forming radiation and charge in reverse polarity of the previous charge simultaneously, and then uniformly exposing the entire surface.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive plate A having photoconductive layer 2 and insulating layer 3 on a conductive supporting body 1 is, for exapmle, negatively charged by a corona discharger 4, then a positive charge 32 is induced in the vicinity of the body 1 of the layer 2. Then, when a first optical image is radiated, the positive charge 32 moves to the boundary of the layer 2 and layer 3 in bright part. Next, when second optical image radiation and positive recharge by a corona discharger 8 are applied simultaneously, the surface of the layer 3 in part I, II is positively charged, and the part IV is also positively charged. When exposed uniformly, the surface potential of parts I, II, IV is maintained almost constantly, and the surface potential of the layer 3 in part III drops suddenly. By developing the electrostatic image thus obtained, the images of positive-positive printing and negative- positive printing may be obtained simultaneously in one machine.
