Abstract

PURPOSE: To send information on data length to CPU while securing the perfect transparency of data transferred from a terminal equipment, by detecting a fixed display bit in a channel command word and by storing transfer data byte information in an area to which we can refer by a program.
CONSTITUTION: Through chain command operation, several channel commands are continuously executed and the number of data transferred from input-output unit 22 to main memory unit 21 is sent to CPU23. Such this channel unit 20 is provided witn a method of detecting a fixed display bit in a channel command word in process of execution or a following channel command word, and information on the number of data bytes actually transferred from input-output unit 22 is stored by the output of this detecting method in any area of main memory unit 21 to which an operator can refer by a program.
