Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of a system on the whole by inputting tab-set data without using another device, by using a character inputting board surface for tab-set input by providing a tab-data storage part.
CONSTITUTION: Board surface 1 of an input character board with several characters written is touched by an input pen to detect the position and by this detection position information, a character code is read out and outputted from character-code generating circuit 4 stored with character codes corresponding to those on board surface 1. The character input device like this is provided with tab-data storage part 6 and board surface 1 is used for tab-set input. In this tab-set input operation, tab data based upon position information obtained as mentioned above are sequentially stored in tab-data storage part 6 and in character input operation, tab data are read out in sequence to set needed tabs.
