Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head for vertical magnetic recording which features a high recording density and writing efficiency by suppressing the diffusion of the vertical magnetic flux with installation of a pair of auxiliary coils at the both horizontal sides of the vertical magnetic pole with the coil wound. CONSTITUTION:Vertical magnetic pole 1 wound with coil3 is provided on recording medium 10 with gap 9 secured between, and the read and write is carried out via the vertical magnetic flux as shown by the arrow mark. In such vertical magnetic recording magnetic head, auxiliary coils 5 and 7 wound around magnetic poles 11 and 13 are provided at the both horizontal sides and under pole 1. And the turning direction of the auxiliary coil is set so that the same pole as the lower polarity (such as the N pole) of pole 1 may be generated at the side of pole 1. The same effect, however, can be obtained without using poles 11 and 13, and the number of turns of coils 5 and 7 will suffice enough with a comparatively small number just to prevent the horizontal diffusion of the magnetic flux of pole 1.
