Abstract

PURPOSE:A skin cosmetic containing superoxide dismutase (SOD) as an effective component, and effective to hyperchromatosis such as liver-spot, ephelides, Addison's disease, etc. CONSTITUTION:A skin cosmetic containing >=0.001wt%, pref. >=0.01wt% of superoxide dismutase (SOD) such as Cu, Zn-SOD, Fe-SOD, Mn-SOD, etc. known as an enzyme existing widely in the bodies of animals and plants, and effective to protect the liviing body from oxygen toxicity. The cosmetic is effective not only to prevent the deposition of melanine to the skin but also to decompose the melanine and to bleach the liver-spot, ephelides, etc. The effect is further improved by the addition of a peroxidase and/or a reducing agent. The cosmetic may contain other additives.
